Kathmandu: Speakers at a programme have underlined the need for excelling technical instruction at the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes. It was emphasized at a recently organized programme by the Training Institute for Technical Instruction (TITI) under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). The interaction focused on ‘strategic directions for TITI: Pathway to becoming a centre of excellence’.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Executive Director of TITI, Anoj Bhattarai, informed that TITI is making utmost efforts to enhance the effectiveness and quality of its programmes, thereby building the further image of CTEVT in Nepal. Newly appointed Vice Chairperson of CTEVT, Prof Dr Om Prasad Baral, expressed the urgency to create more relevance for TVET, a goal to which he is devoted during his term.
Member Secretary Mahesh Bhattarai also highlighted that TVET is a significant arena that equips youths with skills and generates a workforce needed
for the country’s development. Similarly, TITI Board member and Vice President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Birendra Raj Pandey, suggested that meaningful collaboration between the private sector and TITI could strengthen the capacity of in-company trainers. By involving the private sector, TITI could expand its reach to provincial and local levels.
Other speakers advocated for making TITI more service-oriented than profit-driven so that it could contribute more effectively to the national industries and economy.
