Muscat: The Nepali Embassy in Oman has successfully organized an inaugural orientation program focusing on social security service enrolment, along with consular and labor awareness services for Nepali workers residing in Oman. This initiative marks the first-ever camp dedicated to social security services conducted outside of Nepal, providing vital services to the Nepali community abroad.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the event was held on the Embassy Premises on November 29, with Nepali Ambassador to Oman, Dornath Aryal, emphasizing the significance of the Social Security Fund (SSF) and the efforts made by the government of Nepal. Ambassador Aryal expressed gratitude towards the SSF team, embassy staff, and representatives of Nepali organizations in Oman for their active participation in the event.
Deputy Executive Director of the Social Security Fund, Bibek Panthi, outlined the procedures and advantages of the social security scheme to the attendees. The event was supported by a three-member t
eam from the Social Security Fund in Kathmandu, including Assistant Director Radhika Niraula and IT Officer Rajesh Chapagain, who traveled to Oman specifically for this special occasion.
A dedicated desk was established to offer labor and consular services, coordinated by Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary, and Govinda Prasad Acharya, Labor Attaché. The camp successfully provided services to around 215 Nepalis, marking a significant step in facilitating access to important social security services for the Nepali diaspora in Oman.
Historically, the Embassy has organized passport-consular services camps during weekends to accommodate community members unable to visit on weekdays. However, this particular camp was unique as it included social security enrolment and regularization services, a first for Nepalis living abroad.
