Chattogram: Five Adommya Nari (Indomitable Women) have been honored and awarded in five categories for their contributions in their respective fields. The awards were given at the ‘Adommyo Nari Puraskhar 2024’ ceremony, which was jointly organized by the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Office and the Office of the Directorate of Women Affairs, Chattogram.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the award recipients included Nigar Sharmin from Kamal Para Union under Hathazari Upazila for her contribution to the economy, and Rehena Sultana from Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali district for her work in education and employment generation. Chemon Ara Begum from Naikhain village of Patiya upazila in Chattogram was recognized for her efforts in social development. Additionally, Jahanara Islam from the Mohajer Para area under Cox’s Bazar district and Fatema Begum from Ghonar Para village under Cox’s Bazar Sadar were acknowledged for achieving self-sufficiency through courageous struggle after facing indescribable family torture.
The function saw the presence of the Director General of the Directorate of Women’s Affairs, Keya Khan, who attended as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md Zia Uddin and held at the Primary Teachers Training Institute. Additional dignitaries included Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Pasha, Deputy Commissioner Chattogram Farida Khanom, Director of the Adommyo Women Award Program Monir Hossain, and Deputy Police Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Shakila Sultana.
