Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and the Foreign Minister of Australia, Penny Wong, held a telephone conversation regarding the recent catastrophic flash flood that occurred in Nepal today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the discussion between the two ministers focused on the significant human and physical losses and the subsequent interventions for search, rescue, and relief distribution in the flood-affected areas, including Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
Minister Wong expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Australian government over the tremendous loss of lives and pledged every possible support to Nepal during this tragic time.
In response, Minister Khanal conveyed gratitude to the Australian government and its people for their solidarity and commitment to support. He also thanked them for their goodwill towards Nepal in this hour of grief. Khanal further informed the Australian counterpart that the Nepal government was making every effort to search for missing persons, rescue those trapped, and distribute relief to the survivors.
