Former PM Oli and Ex-Home Minister Lekhak Barred from Leaving Country

Kathmandu: The High Level Judicial Commission, established to investigate the events of the Gen-Z protests on September 8-9, has decided to impose a travel ban on five individuals, including former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. This decision was made in light of ongoing investigations involving these individuals.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Commission released a statement announcing the ban on Oli, Lekhak, former Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, former Chief of National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa, and former Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Chhabilal Rijal from international travel. Additionally, these individuals are restricted from leaving the Kathmandu Valley without prior approval, as their presence may be required for investigation purposes.

The Commission has also requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to arrange for expert human resources to enhance the effectiveness of its operations. The Commission, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, includes members such as former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Bigyan Raj Sharma, and legal expert Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari.
