Lalitpur: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will remain open from 11 am to 2 pm even during the Dashain holiday. NHRC spokesperson Dr. Tikaram Pokharel stated in a press release issued today that the Commission’s central office, Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, and the provincial and province branch offices will remain open during the Dashain holiday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the statement detailed that arrangements have been made to ensure that the NHRC central office, along with its provincial and branch offices, will be operational during the Dashain, Deepawali, and Chhath festival holidays. This measure is aimed at receiving complaints of human rights violations and monitoring emergency incidents.
The Commission has requested that the public promptly inform the nearest NHRC office of any incidents of human rights violations. Additionally, the NHRC has issued directives to the government to ensure smooth service delivery and to bolster law and order during the festive period.
The NHRC has also appealed to all concerned parties to support government efforts in streamlining service delivery and enhancing peace and security. It has urged individuals not to hinder the movement of the general public, to avoid activities that may incite crime, contribute to market inflation, or lead to black marketing. The Commission also emphasized refraining from actions that disrupt public service delivery and the supply chain.
