Gen-Z Recognized as Successor of Revolutionary Movement, Says Prachanda

Kathmandu: The general convention organizing committee’s coordinator of CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, emphasized the need for solidarity across all sectors to successfully conduct the House of Representatives elections set for March 5, 2026. Speaking at a greetings exchange and reception program at the party headquarters on Saturday, organized in celebration of Tihar, Nepal Sambat, and Chhath Parva, the former Prime Minister highlighted the necessity for unity among nationalists, democrats, and revolutionary forces to tackle the current political challenges.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prachanda pointed out the critical nature of the current political climate, advocating for a straightforward, inclusive, and nationalist approach to safeguard the constitution and democracy by holding the elections as scheduled. He expressed the interim government’s commitment to conducting the polls on time and conveyed optimism that the international community would contribute positively to the election’s success.

During the event, Prachanda called for constitutional amendments to reflect the aspirations of the Gen-Z protests, stressing that the new parliament should prioritize these changes. He assured that the Maoist Centre was prepared to meet the public’s expectations and emphasized the importance of holding timely elections with national consensus to prevent further instability in the country, which he deemed essential for maintaining the constitutional and democratic process.

Prachanda also confirmed that the unification of left parties affiliated with the Socialist Front would be announced shortly. He recognized Generation-Z as the successor of the revolutionary movement, acknowledging the youth’s justified political presence and contribution. “They are not of others’ but the successor of the revolutionary,” Dahal remarked.
