Kathmandu: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Far Western University (FWU), KP Sharma Oli, has announced that Geta Medical College in Kailali will soon be upgraded to a medical university. During the FWU’s fifth convocation and senate, the Prime Minister shared that upgrading the facility has been a key agenda item for him since the beginning. He encouraged the College management to prepare for the development of the facility into a University.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli also mentioned plans for constructing a dry port aimed at the Dodhara-Chandani area with the establishment of Daiji Chhela Industrial Corridor. He recalled discussing this issue with his Indian counterpart during his previous tenure, focusing on the construction of a border bridge and a bridge connecting the Parshuram area of Dadeldhura. The Prime Minister committed to taking steps towards building a concrete bridge in the region.
The convocation featured Professor Dr. Satpal Singh Bisht, Vice Chancellor of Soban Singh Jeena University in Almora, Uttarakhand, India, as the Special Guest. A total of 372 students graduated during the event, having completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in various faculties including humanities and sociology, education, management, engineering, and agriculture.
