Kathmandu: The government has extended an invitation for dialogue to school teachers who have been protesting. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has reached out to representatives of the Nepal Teachers Federation, requesting their presence at the ministry for discussions.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Shiva Kumar Sapkota released a press statement encouraging the Federation to engage in talks representing all the protesting school teachers and employees. The statement emphasizes that the timing of the talks will be determined through mutual consultation.
The Nepal Teachers Federation has been leading street protests, urging the swift passage of the Bill designed to amend and integrate the School Education Laws, 2080, into law. Previous attempts by the ministry to engage with the agitating teachers on April 3 and 4 were unsuccessful as the teachers did not respond to the invitation.
