Government’s Budget Expenditure Reaches 9 Percent in Initial Months of Current Fiscal Year


Kathmandu: The government’s budget expenditure has reached 9.17 percent by mid-September in the current fiscal year 2082/83 (2025-26).



According to National News Agency Nepal, during the first two months of the fiscal year, 9.67 percent of the budget has been allocated for current expenses, with 1.56 percent directed towards capital expenses and 15.89 percent for financial management. The total budget for this year was set at Rs 1 trillion 964 billion 110 million, with Rs 180 billion 180 million 400 thousand already spent by September 16.



From the budget allocated for current expenditure, which is Rs 1 trillion 180 billion 980 million, the government has spent Rs 114 billion 180 million 720 thousand so far. In terms of capital expenditure, out of the Rs 407 billion 888 million allocated, Rs 6 billion 353 million 300 thousand has been disbursed.



The budget for financial management is Rs 375 billion 242 million, of which Rs 59 billion 629 million 900 thousand has been used by mid-September.



During this timeframe, the government has achieved 10.43 percent of its annual revenue target. The target for total revenue collection is Rs 1 trillion 533 billion 446 million 900 thousand, with Rs 159 billion 985 million 300 thousand collected to date.



The annual target for revenue collection is Rs 1 trillion 325 billion 583 million 900 thousand, and 11.35 percent of this, equivalent to Rs 150 billion 401 million 300 thousand, has been gathered. For non-tax revenue, the target is Rs 154 billion 416 million 100 thousand, with Rs 7 billion 132 million 100 thousand, or 4.62 percent, collected so far.



Additionally, the government aims to mobilize foreign grants amounting to Rs 53 billion 446 million 900 thousand for the fiscal year, with Rs 1 billion 273 million 700 thousand, or 2.38 percent, raised so far.
