Passenger Help Desks Established at 15 Strategic Locations in Kathmandu


Kathmandu: A total of 15 passenger help desks are being set up at 15 different places in Kathmandu to assist people travelling to their homes in view of upcoming festivals. Head of the Valley Traffic Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawaraj Adhikari, told RSS that the traffic police are setting up help desks in collaboration with Sipradi and NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, as well as the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.



According to National News Agency Nepal, a passenger help desk is being established at New Bus Park, Nagdhunga, Kalanki, Swayambhu, Halchowk, Machhapokhari, Chabahil, Tilganga, Koteswor, Jagati, Satdobato, Balkhu, Dakshinkali, Sundhara, and Sanga. The help desks established in these locations will come into operation from tomorrow. “It is aimed to facilitate passengers’ smooth transport, manage vehicular congestion, and make festivals accident-free with the participation of transport entrepreneurs in establishing the passenger help desks,” SSP Adhikari said.



The team comprising officials from the Department of Transport Management, Traffic Police, and entrepreneurs assigned at the help desk will check whether the designated fare has been complied with, and ensure that two drivers are arranged in long-route vehicles, informed chair of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, Bijaya Bahadur Swar. Similarly, the help desks will require a ticket counter to display the fare rate.



The Traffic Police said they will monitor activities such as vehicle capacity and the number of passengers on board, sales of tickets in black, and abandoning passengers on the way before reaching their destinations.
