Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has reiterated the government’s stand for social justice and good governance. Corruption control is a priority, she added.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Karki made these remarks in her address to the nation on Thursday evening. This was her first address to the nation after assuming office as the Prime Minister of the interim government, which is mandated to hold elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) on March 5. She urged all civil employees to ensure hassle-free and prompt public service delivery.
Hotlines have been set up in all government offices, including the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, to hear public complaints. The PM reminded citizens that anyone with grievances regarding public service could reach out via these hotlines to lodge complaints.
The PM emphasized that the issue of constitution amendment could only be addressed through parliament with representatives of the people. However, the government is being run in accordance with the spirit of the Gen-Z struggle. She sought cooperation from all concerned parties to make the government successful.
In an effort to secure resources for the fiscal year, small-scale and haphazard projects will be scrapped. A reconstruction fund has been established to collect budget for rebuilding infrastructures damaged during the protests, she shared.
The PM appealed to all civil servants to refrain from activities that discourage colleagues in the changed context and to devote themselves to better public service delivery.
