Grade 12 Exams Rescheduled to May 4 Following Prime Minister’s Directive

Kathmandu: The Grade 12 exams, initially set to commence on April 24, have been postponed to May 4.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the National Examination Board made the decision following a suggestion from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a meeting held this evening.

Board Chair Mahashram Sharma stated that the exams have been delayed by 10 days. Earlier in the day, the board had planned to proceed with the exams as originally scheduled by employing civil servants in place of teachers, who are currently engaged in protests in Kathmandu. However, the civil servants’ refusal to participate led to a deadlock.

The decision to reschedule was finalized after Chair Sharma and other board members met with Prime Minister Oli at Baluwatar. Following discussions, the Prime Minister directed the board to postpone the exams, resulting in the new start date of May 4.

The ongoing agitation by the Teachers’ Federation in Kathmandu has impacted the scheduling of the Grade 12 exams, which this year are expected to be taken by approximately 500,000 students.
