Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has emphasized the necessity for the Gurung community to integrate into the state’s mainstream. He highlighted the community’s lag in reaching decision-making levels within the state, urging self-awareness among its members.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung made these remarks during an event organized for the screening of the documentary “Lipe Ma Phulne Laligurans Phool” and an award ceremony, a collaboration between Musara Films Pvt Ltd and the Nepal Tourism Board. He noted that although the Gurung and Magar communities played vital roles in the unification of Nepal, their presence at the policy-making level has been insufficient.
The Communications Minister pointed out that despite having access to reserved quotas, the Gurung community has not fully capitalized on opportunities in civil service compared to other groups. He stressed the importance of making the younger generation aware of their national identity and existence. Minister Gurung called for guardians to focus on creating employment opportunities and building a future within the country, urging the full utilization of services and perks provided by the state.
