Health Updates on Rabilaxmi Chitrakar: Condition Improving

Kathmandu: The health condition of Rabilaxmi Chitrakar, spouse of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, is on the path of improvement, according to updates received by the RSS. Chitrakar, who had been admitted to Kirtipur Hospital with severe burn injuries sustained in arson carried out in the couple’s home during the recent Gen Z demonstrations on September 9, remains in the ICU but is said to be recovering steadily.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Kiran Nakarmi, a burn specialist leading the medical team treating Chitrakar, confirmed her condition has improved since her admission. ‘We are doing our best to support her recovery,” Dr. Nakarmi stated. A surgery on her left hand is scheduled for today, with further treatment procedures planned following the operation.

Former Prime Minister Khanal, who is also a senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), mentioned that Chitrakar’s treatment is currently focused on her lungs and left hand, both of which suffered severe impacts. Medical tests suggest that toxic gases had passed through her lungs during the incident. Khanal accused a premeditated arson attack, targeting his wife, who has a long career in teaching. He also expressed serious concern about the spread of misinformation regarding her condition by some media, both domestic and international.

Condemning the incident as violent and inhumane, Khanal called for an investigation into the incident and urged authorities to hold those responsible accountable.
