Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has decided against issuing an interim order on the writ petitions filed by Nepal Electricity Authority’s Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and former Executive Director Kulman Singh Ghising.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a division bench comprising Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey declined to issue an interim order regarding the petitions. Both writs were connected to the contentious appointment and removal of Ghising four years ago. The court recognized the seriousness of the issues involved and has prioritized the case for further hearings.
Ghising had filed a petition seeking his reinstatement following his removal from the Executive Director position at the Nepal Electricity Authority. In contrast, Shakya’s writ sought resolution for a previous petition he filed after being replaced by Ghising. The court’s decision came after three consecutive days of hearings, with a prompt hearing on the matter now scheduled.
