Kathmandu: Seven political parties grounded in the Tarai-Madhes have announced the formation of a Federal Democratic Front. The front was introduced during a program on Thursday with the objective of working towards amending the constitution, protecting the federal democratic republic, and promoting good governance.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the front comprises the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal led by Upendra Yadav, the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal led by Mahantha Thakur, the Janmat Party led by CK Raut, the Nagarik Unmukti Party led by Ranjita Chaudhary, the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal led by Rajendra Mahato, and two parties named Janata Pragatisheel Party headed by Hridayesh Tripathi and Brishesh Chandra Lal.
The front has been established with 26-point objectives and commitments. Its primary aim is to work on the demarcation, naming, and structuring of provinces based on capacity and identity, ensuring balanced and fair distribution of revenue and resources, and enabling provinces to deliver state-provided services and facilities to the people. The front also seeks to strengthen the federal democratic republican system by maintaining local level governance within the jurisdiction of the province and clearly defining the jurisdiction between federal and provincial governments.
Additionally, the front has released a 13-point code of conduct to guide its operations and initiatives.
