Hetauda: The Hetauda Cement Industry has restarted cement production after a nearly five-month hiatus due to an electricity shortage. The supply of electricity has now been restored, allowing the industry to resume operations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Officiating General Manager of the industry, Nabin Kumar Karna, stated that the industry requires eight megawatts of electricity per day to crush limestone effectively. The company has currently stocked 1,900 metric tonnes of coal, essential for production, and plans to procure an additional 4,000 metric tonnes through a bidding process soon.
The factory, located in Lamsure of Hetauda, was established in 2033 BS and officially inaugurated a decade later in 2043 BS, with an initial investment of Rs 1.5 billion. Presently, the industry employs 195 individuals across various departments, including administrative, trade, accounts, store, technical, and labor units.
Despite having the capacity to produce 18,000 sacks of cement daily, the industry is currently operating at a reduced output level, producing only 12,000 sacks per day.
