IGP pays tribute to Sheikh Russel

DHAKA, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury

Abdullah Al-Mamun today paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Sheikh Russel, the

youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to

mark his 60th birthday.

The IGP placed a wreath on Shaheed Sheikh Russel’s portrait set up at

Rajarbag Police Lines.

Sheikh Russel was brutally killed along with Bangabandhu and most of his

family members in a carnage on August 15 in 1975.

Additional IGPs and other senior officials of Bangladesh Police were present

at the time.

Later, Bangladesh Police Service Association president, Additional IGP and

Special Branch Chief Md Monirul Islam and its General Secretary and

Superintendent of Police in Dhaka Md Asaduzzaman paid tributes to Sheikh

Russel.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Additional Director General on behalf of RAB

DG Colonel Mahbubur Rahman, DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, Additional IGPs Mallik

Fakhrul Islam, Md Shafiqul Islam, Banaj Kumar Majumdar, Md Shahabuddin Khan,

YM Belalur Rahman, Md Mahabubur Rahman, Mohammad Ali Mia, DIGs Md Shah Alam,

Abul Kalam Siddique, Golam Kibria, Syed Nurul Islam and Md Moinul Islam paid

tributes to Sheikh Russel.

Special prayers were also offered for the departed soul of Bangabandhu and

most of his other family members, who were brutally assassinated on August 15

carnage.
