Chattogram: Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana has assured journalists of taking all efforts for their welfare so that they could work devotedly and honestly for the country. The announcement was made during a function organized last night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information ministry, led by adviser Nahid Islam, is working relentlessly to ensure the greater welfare of journalists. The ministry is actively considering standing beside sick, distressed, financially weak, and elderly journalists. Mahbuba Farzana made these remarks while speaking at a function jointly organized by the Bangladesh Sangbadik Kallyan Trust (BSKT) and Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ). The event was held to hand over cheques of stipend given by the BSKT to the talented children of journalists from Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, and Khagrachari districts.
The function took place at the Chattogram circuit house conference room and saw the presence of several dignitaries, including BSKT Managing Director M Abdullah, who was present as a special guest. The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and convener of the Chattogram Press Club (CPC) interim committee, Farida Khanom. Mahbuba Farzana also stated that her ministry would take the initiative to increase the financial allocation of the trust.
The occasion was addressed by several prominent figures, including Syed Abdal Ahmed, member of the Media Reform Commission and Executive Editor of Daily Amar Desh, CMUJ President Mohammed Shah Nowaz, CPC Member Secretary Zahidul Karim Kachi, The People’s View Editor Osman Gani Mansur, CMUJ General Secretary Saleh Noman, and CPC EC Member Mustafa Nayim. Later, Mahbuba Farzana handed over the cheques of stipends to the meritorious students of journalists.
