Information and Communication Technology Is Country’s Backbone: ICT Secretary


Rangpur: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury emphasized the critical role of ICT as the backbone of a nation in the modern world. He highlighted the necessity of enhancing capacity to advance in technology and innovation during his chief guest speech at a seminar titled ‘Activation Program of University Innovation Hub Programme’ held at the cafeteria building of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ICT Secretary mentioned that students will have the opportunity to innovate and be creative using the labs at the incubation center established in Pirganj, Rangpur. Initially, BRUR students will be able to access two of the five labs available. He assured that this center would be opened to all and implemented locally, providing a platform for technological advancement and innovation.



Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali, who presided over the event, stated that alongside academic knowledge, Begum Rokeya University is placing significant importance on practical education. He noted that many students are actively involved in freelancing, achieving success in the IT sector.



Earlier in the day, a joint delegation from Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and Begum Rokeya University visited the IT Training and Incubation Center in Pirganj, Rangpur. Following the visit, they engaged in discussions with local entrepreneurs and individuals involved in outsourcing, exploring opportunities for collaboration and growth.
