Injured Fighter to Receive Advanced Medical Treatment in Russia

Dhaka: The interim government of Bangladesh is set to send Khokon Chandra Borman, a seriously injured fighter from the July Movement, to Russia tomorrow morning for advanced medical treatment.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) of the Bangladesh government will facilitate Khokon’s transfer to Moscow’s University Clinic of M.V. Lomonosov. He is scheduled to depart on a Qatar Airways flight. Khokon sustained severe injuries, including significant damage to his upper lip, gums, nose, and palate due to bullet wounds. The Moscow clinic is the only facility that has agreed to treat his complex injuries.

Upon arrival in Moscow, Khokon will undergo an initial evaluation. Specialists will utilize advanced 3D animation technologies to create a model in hopes of restoring his facial structure to its normal state. The main surgical procedures for facial reconstruction are expected to commence after a month of preparation.

Khokon was injured on August 5 last year, while in front of Jatrabari Police Station during the July Uprising, resulting in substantial damage to his face and bones. The MOHFW has previously sent 38 injured individuals to Singapore and Thailand for advanced treatment, with three having successfully returned home post-treatment.
