Sirajganj: An inter-upazila volleyball competition kicked off today at Shaheed Shamsuddin Stadium, celebrating the Festival of Youth under the slogan “Let’s change the country, change the world.” In the opening match, Sirajganj Sadar Upazila triumphed over Shahjadpur Upazila with a score of 2-1 sets.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the volleyball meet was inaugurated by Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam, who attended as the chief guest. The event is being implemented by the District Administration. Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Ziaur Rahman was present as a special guest, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Ganapati Roy presiding over the ceremony.
The opening ceremony saw the attendance of several notable figures, including Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Monowar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner Md. Fazle Rabbi, District Sports Officer Md. Noore Elahi, Shahzadpur Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Shahadat Hossain, and Tarash Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Abdus Salam. Also present were Sirajganj Press Club President and District Sports Association Former General Secretary Md. Harun Or Rashid Khan Hasan, along with Volleyball Organiser Rashed Kabir Chandu Abdullah and sports organisers Alamin Sheikh and Hafizur Rahman.
Teams from Sirajganj Sadar, Shahzadpur, Ullapara, Kajipur, Kamarkhanda, Belkuchi, Chauhali, and Raiganj are competing in the tournament, which follows a knockout format.
