New york: The International Civil Aviation Day is being marked across the world today, with significant observance in the ICAO Member States. This day is celebrated under the theme “Safe Skies and a Sustainable Future for All.”
According to National News Agency Nepal, the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized December 7 as International Civil Aviation Day in 1996. The recognition aims to raise awareness about the importance of international civil aviation in the sustainable development of Member States. It also seeks to build support for ICAO’s leadership in promoting safe, secure, inclusive, and environmentally responsible air transport.
The United Nations highlighted the purpose of International Civil Aviation Day as generating and reinforcing global awareness regarding international civil aviation’s contribution to social and economic development. It also emphasizes ICAO’s unique role in fostering cooperation among States to achieve a global rapid transit network serving all mankind.
