Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities: NC President Bats for Meaningful Participation.


Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized the importance of meaningful participation and leadership of persons living with disabilities in decision-making levels. In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 33rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Deuba highlighted the commitment of the Nepali Congress to equity, justice, and inclusive democracy. He stressed that involving disabled individuals in policy-making is essential.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Deuba extended his best wishes to all disabled persons, their families, and advocates of the movement. He expressed hope that the day, observed under the theme ‘Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,’ would inspire efforts towards an inclusive society where the rights of disabled persons are respected and protected.

The former prime minister called on all stakeholders to ensure that disabled persons have easy access to
education, health, and employment, emphasizing that legal, social, and structural reforms are necessary to uphold their rights. Deuba also reminded everyone of the significant role that disabled persons play in achieving sustainable and equitable development.
