Ishwar Pokhrel Appointed Acting Chair of UML

Kathmandu: Senior Vice-Chair of CPN (UML), Ishwar Pokhrel, has been appointed the party’s Acting Chair. He has assumed this role as party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli departs for Thailand on a five-day official visit. The visit includes participation in the Sixth Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), which is set to be hosted by Thailand on April 4.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Pokhrel’s appointment as Acting Chair is in line with the party’s Statute 2049 BS, amended in 2078 BS. This temporary leadership change ensures continuity in party operations during Prime Minister Oli’s absence. The party leader is expected to return to Nepal on April 5, following his engagements in Thailand.
