Kathmandu: The unification between the Janamat Party and the Nagarik Unmukti Party is slated to take place on April 30. Janamat Party’s Spokesperson Dr. Sharad Singh Yadav has shared that preparations are underway for this significant political merger.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Janamat Party has called for a central working committee meeting on April 29 at 6:00 pm to further discuss the unification process between the two parties. Party leaders have been instructed to attend the meeting with their citizenship identity cards and voter cards for the unification event organized at Nepal Academy in Kathmandu. Additionally, the party has extended invitations to all central members, representatives of the party’s sister organizations, and well-wishing organizations for the unification day.
Leaders from both parties have already agreed on the name of the new party that will emerge post-merger. The new entity will be called the Nagarik Janamat Party. An agreement has also been nearly finalized on other aspects concerning the merger, such as the party’s flag and leadership structure. CK Raut, the current Chairperson of the Janamat Party, will lead the new party, while Resham Chaudhary, the Nagarik Unmukti Party’s sitting patron, will continue in his role. The new party will also have a co-chair, Ranjita Shrestha, the current Chairperson of the Nagarik Unmukti Party.
The Janamat Party was established in 2077 BS under the leadership of CK Raut, whereas the Nagarik Unmukti Party was formed in 2078 BS. Currently, the Janamat Party holds six seats in the parliament, while the Nagarik Unmukti Party has four members.
