Kathmandu: Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal today. During their meeting at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, they discussed several important topics, including the changing situation in Nepal, the historic relationship between Nepal and Japan, and Japan’s contributions to Nepal’s socio-economic development.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Finance Minister Khanal emphasized that the primary task of the current government, which was formed under special circumstances, is to ensure that the upcoming election takes place as scheduled. He stated that activities such as the reconstruction of structures damaged during the Gen-Z protest and continued socio-economic development would persist until the election.
The discussions also covered various infrastructure initiatives, including the under-construction Nagdhunga Tunnel route project and the Koteshwor Chowk Improvement Project, for which an agreement is expected to be signed soon. Additionally, they talked about the Programme for Emergency Rehabilitation of Sindhuli Road, which was affected by flooding.
Finance Secretary Ghan Shyam Upadhyay and Joint-Secretary at the Foreign Aid Coordination Division, Dhani Ram Sharma, were also present at the meeting.
