Chitwan: The Chitwan National Park (CNP) is preparing to resume its popular jeep safari services, which were suspended during the monsoon season. The safari operations were halted on June 30 due to the potential risks of damage to gravel forest roads, seasonal flooding from rivulets, falling trees, and other humanitarian concerns.
According to National News Agency RSS, CNP Chief Conservation Officer Dr. Ganesh Panta has announced that preparations are in progress to restart the safari services before Phulpati, which is the seventh day of the Dashain festival, falling on September 29. The jeeps that were in operation last year will be re-authorized for service in the upcoming season. The operators have been advised to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before resuming operations.
Currently, a fleet of 32 jeeps from Sauraha, nine from Meghauli, two from Ujauli, five from Amaltari, and one from Madi are responsible for providing safari services within the park.
