Karate Champions Honored for International Achievements


Kathmandu: The Nepal Budokai-do Full Contact Karate Association has honored its athletes who have recently excelled in various international competitions, bringing home multiple medals. The association paid tribute to these champions in a ceremony acknowledging their outstanding performances on the global stage.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the athletes honored include Sagar Bishwakarma, Babita Karki, Rochak Bharati, Pooja Khadka, and Sudarshan Khatri for their victories at the World Budokai Martial Arts Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan. Additionally, Karuna Raut, who served as a judge at the same event, was also recognized for her contribution.



The ceremony also celebrated Sani Singh’s achievement of a gold medal in the open weight category at the South Asian Full Contact Karate Championship in Sri Lanka. Dawa Sherpa’s bronze medal in the solo kata event at the Tezuka Cup Full Contact Karate Championship in Japan was acknowledged, along with Kedarman Sthapit’s gold medal in the men’s 76 kg (above 50 years) category at the 12th World Strength Lifting and Incline Bench Press Championship in Thailand.



Furthermore, the event marked the felicitation of Surya Bahadur Budhathoki, who has been newly elected as the president of the Nepal Full Contact Karate Federation, recognizing his leadership and commitment to advancing the sport in Nepal.
