Koshi Province Unveils Comprehensive Health Policy-2082


Kathmandu: The Health Ministry of Koshi Province government has unveiled ‘Koshi Province Health Policy-2082’ today. According to the Health Ministry, the policy was launched with an objective of enabling all citizens of the province to be physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally healthy and live a productive life.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the health policy has incorporated six objectives, 26 policies, and strategies, as stated by Information Officer at Health Ministry, Dr. Kenin Rai. A cabinet meeting of Koshi Province held on August 1 had approved the province health policy. The province health policy has been uploaded on the website and the ministry’s official Facebook page, he added.



The policy addresses issues such as the lack of sufficient and managed infrastructures for affordable and quality basic health services in the province, the lack of quotas of human resources as required by the health sector, the lack of appropriate management of available human resources, and the insufficiency of investment in the health sector.



The health policy also highlights the lack of expansion of specialist medical services and intensive care units, anemia among one-third of children below five years, tuberculosis, and the high infection rate of insect-borne diseases in the province as major problems.
