Lalitpur: The Kathmandu University and the Nepal Policy Institute (NPI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on issues of education and research. The agreement was formalized during a program held at the School of Management, KU, Lalitpur.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the NPI, based in Hague, and KU have agreed on joint research initiatives, publication efforts, and the exchange of students and teachers. The MoU outlines plans for both institutions to collaboratively mobilize grants for policy research and support each other in fostering research initiatives.
On the occasion, KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Achyut Wagle expressed confidence that the MoU would provide opportunities for both parties to exchange expertise and experiences within the educational community. He highlighted KU’s policy of inviting foreign scholars and professors for long-term teaching and research, noting that the diaspora’s expert contributions could benefit KU’s educational programs.
Similarly, Dr Khagendra Dhakal, Chairman of NPI’s Board of Directors, discussed NPI’s role in Nepal’s policy research and the strengthening of the think tank system. He emphasized that the MoU offers a platform for Nepali talents abroad to contribute their intellect to Nepal’s development, benefiting the country as a whole. Dr Dhakal also stressed the importance of trilateral cooperation among the public sector, universities, and think tanks.
Established in 1992, Kathmandu University is a leading academic institution with approximately 22,000 students. The NPI, founded in 2017 in Hague, Netherlands, boasts a global network of over 1,260 experts.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by university dignitaries, marking a significant step towards enhanced academic collaboration.
