Rupandehi: The Rupandehi District Prison has clarified that the security of former deputy prime minister Rabi Lamichhane has been a priority during his imprisonment. Issuing a press statement on Friday, the prison administration stated that Lamichhane, who is currently detained in Bhairahawa-based prison on charges related to a cooperative fraud case, has been allocated a separate room for his confinement.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the statement was issued by prison administrator Suresh Bhandari. Lamichhane, who is a suspended member of the House of Representatives, has been held in the prison for the past four months. Bhandari mentioned that Lamichhane is regularly enquired about his needs and well-being, emphasizing that the prison administration’s attention was drawn to recent media reports regarding his treatment.
Bhandari dismissed reports that suggested Lamichhane faced discrimination during his time in prison.
