Bhaktapur: Protesters set fire to the private residence of CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli in Balakot, Bhaktapur during a protest held in Bhaktapur today. After two people were injured in police firing during the protest, an angry crowd dispersed the police and entered Oli’s residence, vandalized it, and set fire to both houses. The houses were completely damaged in the arson.
According to National News Agency Nepal, protesters also targeted the house of former Communications Minister Gokul Baskota in Lokanthali, Madhyapurthimi-1, and the house of UML leader Mahesh Basnet in Gundu, Suryabinayak Municipality-7, vandalizing and setting fire to both locations. In a separate incident, the protesters vandalized and set fire to the Transport Office in Radhe Radhe, Madhyapurthimi Municipality, where they removed a vehicle and all belongings, setting them on fire, along with the office building itself.
The protesters extended their activities to vandalizing and setting fire to key public offices, including the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur Police Range, and surrounding offices. The Traffic Police Range in Bhaktapur’s Sallaghari was also vandalized, with police vehicles on the road set ablaze.
In Jagati, the Police Circle was vandalized, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police’s vehicle was set on fire. Additionally, the Police Division in Kharipati suffered vandalism. The protesters also entered and vandalized the Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Radhe Radhe, causing significant damage.
