Kathmandu: The Sayapatri Foundation Nepal has honoured educationist and senior litterateur Dr Ram Prasad Dahal and his spouse Chanda Dahal Koirala with the Sayapatri National Award-2082 BS. The recognition took place during the 117th birth anniversary celebration of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Banepa-based Foundation awarded the Dahal couple with a cash prize and a letter of appreciation. The organization has a history of recognizing notable literary figures since 2055 BS, with past awardees including Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire and Bairagi Kainla.
The award was also bestowed upon poet and senior doctor Ananta Prasad Adhikari and his spouse Narmada Khanal Adhikari. The Foundation emphasizes the importance of acknowledging the supportive roles played by spouses in one’s achievements.
Foundation’s Chairman Rajendra Shrestha highlighted Dr Dahal’s four decades of contributions to education and literature, while Dr Adhikari was recognized for his more than 20 years of service to the local health sector.
