Lumbini Provincial Hospital Achieves Excellence in Minimum Service Standards

Butwal: The Lumbini Provincial Hospital has been recognized for its outstanding performance in the minimum service standard assessment, marking a significant achievement for the oldest hospital in western Nepal.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the hospital has consistently excelled in the Minimum Service Standard (MSS) evaluation over the past two years. This year, it has advanced to the ‘Secondary B’ level with a score of 90 points, distinguishing itself as the first hospital in Nepal to provide excellent services. Last year, the hospital scored 89 points, setting a precedent in the nation for exceptional service delivery.

During the service evaluation review program, a comprehensive presentation highlighted various aspects of the hospital’s operations, including available services, equipment, physical infrastructure, and human resources. Health Minister of Lumbini Province, Khem Bahadur Saru, noted the shift in public perception, with more people now willing to seek services at government hospitals. He urged the hospital management, staff, and doctors to ensure that their efforts are reflected not only in evaluation scores but also in the experiences of the patients.

Dr. Roshan Lal Chaudhary, Director of the Health Directorate, called on stakeholders to further enhance the hospital’s services. Meanwhile, the hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr. Indra Dhakal, acknowledged that while the results of the minimum health service standards evaluation were commendable, there is still room for improvement, and plans are underway to achieve this.

The hospital currently operates with a team of over 850 healthcare workers and staff, which includes 51 specialist doctors, providing a wide range of services to the community.
