Kathmandu: The Mechi Highway, which had been blocked due to a landslide triggered by rainfall on October 4, has reopened today, restoring a crucial transportation link.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal confirmed that the Ilam-Rajduwali road section in Ilam Municipality-9 was opened for traffic from 9:00 PM after successful maintenance efforts.
Road Division Office Chief Pawan Bhattarai stated that the highway was brought back into operation after two weeks of continuous efforts by the Road Division Office, local residents, and security personnel. He shared that the Road Division Office utilized six excavators, one JCB, six tippers, and two loaders to effectively clear the landslide.
