Makawanpur: CPN (Maoist Centre) chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced that his party would initiate a Mechi-Mahakali campaign advocating for a directly elected presidential system in the country. He made this statement while addressing the second municipal conference of the Young Communist League (YCL) of Thaha Municipality in Makawanpur.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chair Dahal emphasized that a directly elected presidential system would ensure political stability in the nation. In his address, he highlighted his past achievements, mentioning that during his first term as Prime Minister, he had waived loans up to Rs 30,000 for the needy and eliminated load-shedding in his second term. Dahal claimed that these measures were aimed at providing relief to the general public and improving connectivity through the construction of the mid-hill highway.
He also spoke about ongoing infrastructure projects, noting that the construction of a Covered Hall is underway with investment from the
Bagmati province government, initiated by the Maoist Centre. Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of a cold store as a significant effort by the local government.
Dahal outlined further infrastructure developments, such as the Damgade Mahadevbeshi road, which is being constructed with an investment of Rs 98 million under the integrated urban infrastructure programme. He also shared that the Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University has been established in Chitlang.
