Kankadbhitta: Church Boys United has entered the final of the fifth Mechinagar Gold Cup Football Championship underway in Kankadbhitta. In today’s match, Church Boys secured their spot in the final by defeating Machchhindra with a score of 4-3. African player Abayomi Fakunle played a crucial role by scoring a hat trick, leading Church Boys to victory. With this win, Church Boys United is set to face the host team, Kankadbhitta Football Training Centre, on Saturday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Fakunle was declared the ‘player of the match’ and received a cash award of Rs 11,000. Coach Suman Shrestha of Church Boys remarked on their impressive comeback, which led to their victory.
The winner of the Mechinagar Gold Cup will receive Rs 1 million along with a trophy and medal, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 500,000, also accompanied by a trophy and medal, as informed by the host.
