Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, has said the vehicles in Singha Durbar premises that were burnt down in the course of the Gen-Z demonstration should be managed by taking them to another place. He issued directives to this effect today, stating that the Singha Durbar premises looked ugly due to the burnt vehicles, stated Minister Ghising’s secretariat.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Ghising emphasized the importance of maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the government premises. “We shouldn’t leave the office premises looking shabby, let’s do our work in the interior but not let the exterior become unsightly. Let’s make it nice as soon as possible. Damaged vehicles scattered around the Singha Durbar premises make it look unattractive, we should remove and manage them promptly to convey a positive message,” he said.
Minister Ghising outlined steps to address the aftermath of the fires, including painting the outer parts of buildings that have only experienced minor fires to convey a message of resilience. He directed the immediate removal of fire-damaged vehicles in the ministry and office premises and called for an assessment of the extent of the damage.
He further clarified that the reconstruction efforts will be supported by a campaign titled ‘Let us build our structures ourselves’, seeking contributions from the government and Nepalis both domestically and internationally. The Ministry of Urban Development has formed a taskforce to evaluate the damage to structures under its authority and has already commenced its work.
