Nepal Prepares for Constitution Day and National Day Celebrations

Kathmandu: The government has announced plans for observing Constitution Day and the National Day, 2082 BS on the upcoming Friday. The central event will be held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, with President Ramchandra Paudel attending as the Chief Guest.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Sushila Karki will also address the gathering. Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary Rhishi Ram Tiwari stated that the celebration will be tailored to reflect the current political landscape of the country. The previous government had formed the Constitution Day and National Day 2082 Celebration Main Committee on August 24 to mark a decade since the declaration of Nepal’s constitution.

The Constitution of Nepal, 2072, was promulgated by the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015, as a result of the efforts and sacrifices made by the Nepalese people. To commemorate this decade of constitutional rule, the government planned various programs such as discussions and debates on the implementation, achievements, and challenges of the constitution. However, these plans have been affected by recent events resulting in loss of lives and property.

In addition to the main event, celebrations will also take place at provincial and local levels. These programs aim to highlight the historical background, significance, and key aspects of the current constitution.
