Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey has said the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Bill, 2081 BS aims to establish good governance in the aviation sector by strengthening the legal procedures.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Pandey addressed concerns during the theoretical discussions on the Bill at today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. He emphasized that the Bill’s primary objective is to fortify the aviation sector and develop skilled human resources. He stated, “The document is expected to play a role in making the relevant area vibrant.”
If the Bill is passed, it will allow for the separation of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) into two distinct entities: a regulatory body and a service provider. Minister Pandey assured that the Bill would not reduce the current benefits for employees. Numerous amendment proposals are anticipated within the provided deadline.
Pandey also expressed optimism that the Ministry would work diligently to prevent corruption. He mentioned that an investigation into the Saurya Airlines crash is ongoing, with the final report awaited to determine further actions. He reassured that anyone found responsible for the crash would face consequences.
The session concluded for the day, and the lower house is scheduled to reconvene at 11:00 am on Tuesday (April 29).
