Ministry of Home Affairs Urges Citizens to Ensure Peaceful Conduct Ahead of Elections

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an appeal to all citizens, urging them to maintain peace, order, and security as the country gears up for the upcoming general election. The ministry emphasized the importance of peaceful conduct during this critical period.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the ministry released a press statement today highlighting that preliminary preparations for the general election have commenced. The statement called upon individuals and groups to conduct any assemblies, conferences, meetings, or protests in a peaceful manner, avoiding any form of violence, provocation, or disruption.

The ministry’s announcement comes in the wake of the Gen-Z movement, which took place on September 8 and 9, advocating for national interest, good governance, and the prevention of corruption. In response to this movement, a new interim government was established on September 12, led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, with the specific mandate to conduct the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.
