Mountain Tourism Photo Exhibition Inaugurated at RSS for 18th Republic Day

Kathmandu: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey have officially inaugurated a photo exhibition organized by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the National News Agency, on the occasion of Republic Day-2082.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the exhibition, themed ‘Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity’, showcases 96 photographs capturing the essence of the Himalayan peaks, mountain life, and key tourist attractions. The event is being held at the RSS central office located at Bhadrakali Plaza. The exhibition aims to highlight the issues faced by mountainous countries such as Nepal due to climate change, featuring images captured by RSS reporters and photojournalists over different periods.

The exhibition complements the recently concluded ‘Sagarmatha Sambaad’, organized by the Government of Nepal, and is expected to enhance the variety of RSS’s creative activities. In previous years, the National News Agency has organized photo exhibitions focusing on the cultural diversity of the country and on physical infrastructure and development, all timed to coincide with Republic Day celebrations.

RSS anticipates that this year’s exhibition will contribute to ongoing discussions and advocacy for mountain conservation, especially in light of the international media’s focus on climate change challenges affecting mountain and highland life. During the inauguration, RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha and General Manager Siddha Raj Rai welcomed the attendees and elaborated on the importance of the displayed photographs. The exhibition will remain open to the public until June 13.
