Muglin-Pokhara Road Project: Eastern Sector Deadline Extended for Fourth Time

Pokhara: The deadline for the expansion of the Muglin-Pokhara road project, particularly the eastern sector stretching from Jamune to Ambukhaireni in Tanahu, has been extended for the fourth time. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has made the decision to push the deadline further to October 11, 2025.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey of the Muglin-Pokhara Road Project (Eastern Section) explained that this marks the third extension for this specific section. The previous deadline had been set for July 13, 2025. The extension was requested due to remaining works aside from the completed blacktopping, which prompted a recommendation to the ministry for more time.

The blacktopping of the 41.5-kilometer stretch from Aambukhaireni to Jamune under the Eastern Sector has been finalized in four lanes. Additionally, the six-lane road in Damuli has also been blacktopped. Engineer Pandey emphasized that road painting has been completed in most areas, leaving only a small amount of work pending, which necessitated the request for an extension.

The initial agreement for the road widening in the eastern sector was reached on January 30, 2021, with work commencing on April 15, 2021. The contract for this section was awarded to China Communication Construction. The project is being upgraded into a four-lane roadway with loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with the contract valued at Rs 6 billion 213 million and 31 thousand.
