NA Peacekeepers Depart for South Sudan


Kathmandu: Two hundred and eleven personnel of the Chandi Prasad Battalion of the Nepali Army (NA) have left for South Sudan last night. The NA squad assigned to peacekeeping in South Sudan under the call of the United Nations departed for Juba, the capital of South Sudan, led by Major Milan Acharya.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army confirmed that the team, headed by Major Milan Acharya, has left for their designated duty. This deployment is part of the ongoing peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.



Prior to this, a 213-member Aridaman Battalion, led by Major General Maheshwar Silwal, completed their assignment and returned to Kathmandu on Saturday.



Currently, there are 1,756 peacekeepers from the Nepali Army in South Sudan, including sector commanders, military observers, staff officers from two battalions, and one company.
