Kathmandu: National Assembly (NA) lawmaker Gomadevi Timilsina has demanded the government ensure prompt justice to victims of cooperatives fraud. Airing her views in a meeting of the upper house today, the lawmaker asserted that no one, whether a leader, political cadre, or anyone else, should be shielded from charges of misappropriating cooperative funds. She expressed doubts about the government’s commitment to addressing the issue, emphasizing that the number of victims is substantial and requires urgent justice.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Durga Gurung called for an advanced study on copper extraction in Mugu and the reopening of the industry located in Karmarong rural municipality-1 in the district. She informed the House that Mugu previously extracted raw copper, manufactured various materials, and supplied them to Tibet and different parts of the country. The operations have been halted since 2024 BS due to a government directive, and she urged for the reoperation of the industry.
Nar Bahadur Bista voiced his concerns over the repeated postponement of the 10th National Games, initially scheduled to be held in Karnali. The event has been rescheduled to commence on June 6 from its earlier date of April 5. However, Bista expressed uncertainty about the event taking place on the newly announced date and called on the government to ensure that the games proceed as planned.
