Kathmandu: Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA), Bimala Ghimire, has emphasized the collective responsibility of safeguarding cultural heritages and preserving the essence of festivals like Gaijatra.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Vice Chair of the Upper House extended her best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers, both domestically and internationally, on the occasion of Gaijatra, a cultural festival predominantly celebrated by the Newar community. She described Nepal as a country characterized by its ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious diversities.
Ghimire expressed her hope that the Gaijatra festival would serve as a source of inspiration for individuals to foster positivity and adhere to the right path while maintaining religious tolerance. She underscored the significance of ensuring that humor and satire, which are integral to Gaijatra celebrations, do not compromise national sovereignty, harm personal dignity, or contribute to ethnic or gender-based discrimination.
