Kathmandu: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has strongly condemned the acts of vandalism, arson, looting, and the resultant loss of human lives and physical properties during the protests carried out by supporters of the former king on Friday. The NBA has also declared the rally in support of the former king as unconstitutional.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Anjeeta Khanal, the General Secretary of NBA, issued a press statement expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and the damage to property during the demonstrations. The protests, which turned violent, have sparked widespread concern about public safety and the rule of law.
The NBA extended deep condolences to the families of Suresh Rajak, a journalist from Avenues Television, and Sabin Maharjan, who lost their lives during the unrest. The association expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Khanal called for rightful compensation for the families of the victims and demanded that action be taken against those responsible for the violence. The NBA has also urged the government to uphold human rights and maintain law and order through effective security measures in society.
