Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala emphasized that the two major political parties in Nepal, the NC and the CPN (UML), remain key political competitors despite their current collaboration in the government. Speaking at an event organized by the NC Triyuga Municipality-11 to unveil a statue of the late BP Koirala, Dr Koirala highlighted the necessity for the NC to strengthen its party organization with the awareness that the two parties are set to compete in the future, notwithstanding their current political alliance formed under pressing circumstances.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr Koirala pointed out that the political landscape in the country is undergoing a transitional phase. He remarked that the prevailing political conditions have compelled the major parties, NC and UML, to jointly govern the country. However, he stressed that it is crucial not to overlook the fact that these two parties will be political rivals in the days ahead.
Furthermore, Dr Koirala urged the
leaders representing both parties in the government to focus on delivering tangible results that will allow citizens to experience real change.
